CESR Emergency Medicine

Amman to Bristol: CCT in Emergency Medicine via CESR-CP

Dr K · Jordan → Bristol Royal Infirmary

The timeline

5 years as an EM registrar in Amman. Joined Bristol as a Clinical Fellow, transitioned to CESR-CP (Combined Programme), passed FRCEM Final in year 3, awarded CCT and now a substantive Consultant in EM.

Biggest challenge

Imposter syndrome on every shift for the first 18 months. UK EM is process-heavy in ways Jordanian EM is not — sepsis bundles, NEWS scores, safeguarding pathways. I read the BMJ Best Practice app between every patient for a year.

Advice for IMGs

Find a college tutor who actively signs off your work-place based assessments. Without them, CESR evidence collection drags on for years.
