How the IMG2NHS AI assistant works, what it is good for, and where you must double-check.

In one sentence

The IMG2NHS AI assistant is a research and planning helper, not an authority. It can make mistakes, and its answers do not replace official guidance or professional judgement.

1. What the AI assistant is

The AI assistant is a large-language-model tool built into IMG2NHS. It is designed to help international medical graduates understand the NHS pathway, find relevant guides on the platform, prepare questions, and organise next steps. It draws on the content we publish, general medical-education knowledge, and your conversation history.

2. What it is not

  • It is not a doctor, lawyer, immigration adviser, or GMC/UKVI representative.
  • It does not have access to your personal records, visa status, or GMC application.
  • It cannot make clinical decisions, prescribe, or interpret patient data.
  • It cannot guarantee that any exam, job, visa, or registration outcome will succeed.

3. AI can make mistakes

Large language models sometimes produce incorrect, outdated, or incomplete information. Rules from the GMC, NHS, and UK immigration authorities change frequently. Always verify important details against the official source before acting, especially if a decision affects your career, visa, finances, or patient care.

4. How to use it safely

  • Use it to learn concepts, compare options, and draft questions.
  • Cross-check facts with the linked guides and official websites.
  • For visa or GMC applications, treat the assistant's output as a starting point, not final advice.
  • Never share patient-identifiable information in the chat.
  • Do not upload certificates, scans, or documents containing sensitive data.

5. Data and conversations

Conversations are stored against your account so you can review them later. They are not used to train public AI models, and they are not shared with other users. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle data.

6. When to speak to a human

If your question involves a specific legal case, visa refusal, GMC fitness-to-practise matter, or patient care, speak to a qualified professional or the relevant authority rather than relying on the assistant. You can also contact the IMG2NHS team or book a 1-1 consultation for personalised guidance.

7. Changes

We may update this disclaimer as the AI features evolve. The version published here at the time you use the assistant applies.
